Films and series which can be viewed at any time of day and for thirty days on the screen of a television set, a PC or a mobile (for which he must pay a supplement). After months of suspense, Orange yesterday presented his weapon anti-Canal. Dubbed "Orange cinema series", the bouquet to be launched on November 13 by the subsidiary of France Telecom will propose five thematic channels, all focused on the film and series. Initially at least, it will be accessible only for the approximately 8 million ADSL operator customers, at a price of 12 euros monthly. This offer will be free for three months for "booster" startup, if the package is subscribed before mid-January 2009. Those who do not yet receive ADSL TV will also receive Orange programs if they equip a parable.
The price of 12 euros per month is only a base. The Subscriber must pay 6 euros extra to receive on their mobile programs, and 7 euros more for a multiscreen viewing.

Decided to hunt on the lands of Canal , the operator has therefore relied on an aggressive pricing policy compared to its competitor (between 30 and 33 euros per month in normal period for the bouquet). At a flat close: to have access to its offering, will need to first subscribe to service 'triple play' telephone, Internet and television of Orange. Which already costs 42 euro per month to the current price! And Orange believes that there is a place for its offer since 67 of French households are not subscribers to a pay television service.
Feature films exclusively
Basically, flexibility (consumption demand and of a multitude of terminals) will be the main argument for the sale of the subsidiary of France Telecom to attract subscribers. But the sinews of war will also be the "black gold" of the content. For the moment, Orange has signed agreements with Hollywood studios Warner and MGM as well as with HBO for series. France, the operator will have access to Gaumont films, and he also concluded an agreement with the producer loyalty ("Le Petit Nicolas", "between walls", etc.). Xavier Couture, Director of the contents of France Telecom, swear that the Group did not up prices to win the rights of the films as Canal . But the offensive of France Telecom, today, is not reminiscent launched by GST, the end of 1996 at the time of his birth, which had led to a price war.
The challenge to compete with Canal will be Orange to obtain enough films exclusively, seventy-five according to his wish. And for this, it imperative need for an agreement with French cinema. But the discussions are difficult (read below). Because Orange is not having to spend too much money before being sure that subscriptions to the bouquet take off.
France Telecom maintains the largest blur on the profitability of the project and on its economic model. Officially, he is "beyond 100,000 customers end of 2009", according to Louis-Pierre Wenes, the pattern of the French group's activities. "Ultimately, Orange will make sense," he assured. According to some, the Group would be 1-1.5 million subscribers within three years. A figure that France Telecom doesn't confirm.
